Obituary of Angela Grieco

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Angelina Grieco, who left this world peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Niagara Falls, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years old.

Lina was born on March 22, 1930, in Accadia Foggia, Italy. Her life was one of courage, resilience, and endless love. As a young mother, she bravely travelled to Canada with her two eldest daughters and built a new life in Fort Erie. Her home quickly became a gathering place, welcoming relatives, friends, and neighbours, and helping others from her village and family as they settled in Canada. In her later years, Lina found comfort and happiness at Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie, where she was surrounded by staff and residents who loved her dearly, and whom she loved in return.

Lina was welcomed by many loved ones who went before her. She is reunited with her dear parents, Maria and Michele Giampaolo, and her parents-in-law, Archangela and Michele Grieco. Waiting for her with open arms are her beloved husband, Celestino, her cherished daughter, Maria Branton, and her treasured grandson, Adam Joon. She also joins her sister Teresa and her husband Angelo, along with her brothers Gennaro and Antonio, and sister in law Lavinia.

She leaves behind her daughters, Angela and her husband Dick Joon, and Linda Grieco, as well as her son-in-law, Doug Branton. She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren Amanda and Tim Conlon, Nick Joon, Lindsay and Cory Mercer, Samantha Schlosser and Michael and Debbie Ciocca, as well as her great-grandchildren Oliver, Paige, Avery, Grace, Mackenzie, Reid, Payton and Kellan. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Elvira Giampaolo, her brother Pasquale and his wife Carmela Giampaolo, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were like family to her.

Lina’s life was defined by her deep love and nurturing spirit. To so many, she was a second mother, a safe place, and a source of laughter and comfort. She had a quick wit that could brighten any room, and her happiest moments were spent at the table surrounded by family and friends. She had a gift for making a dollar stretch, turning a meal for six into a feast for eighteen, and making everyone who walked through her door feel at home.

She was truly magic. She nourished not only bodies, but hearts and souls, and she found her purpose in caring for others. Her legacy of love, generosity, and laughter will live on in her family and in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gilmore Lodge for surrounding Nonna with love and dignity, and the nursing staff in the Brock Unit of GNGH for their kindness and compassion, which made life a little easier for all of us.

Visitation will be held at Benner Funeral Home on Friday October 24th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Michael’s Church in Fort Erie Saturday October 25th at 11:00 am followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those wishing to honour Lina, flowers are welcome. Donations in her memory may also be made to the Circle Back Foundation,www.circleback.ca a cause close to her family’s heart.
