Later years were happily spent in Kitchener near family and friends, and finally Fort Erie, where many more holidays were celebrated with festive meals.
Maria was a talented seamstress, a prolific gardener, and an accomplished cook and baker. She volunteered at the local retirement homes until she settled into one herself, where she was active in its daily operations, along with caring for the garden and house plants.
