Obituary of Pearl Lidkea
Pearl Elizabeth Lidkea (nee Cooper) April 25, 1929 - August 5, 2025
Surrounded by her loving family, Pearl passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025 at the age of 96.
Pearl was born April 25th, 1929 on Disher Street in Ridgeway to Nancy and Ira Cooper, becoming the baby of 9 to her family. Her chosen name could not have been better suited for her, “A Person of great rarity and worth“ proven so true as she was our family gem! Pearl will be sadly missed by her son Mark Lidkea (late Mary) and her daughter Sheri (Angelo) Saieva. Pearl was a loving grandmother to Alexis Lidkea (James Dougherty) and Cassandra (Chris) Higgs, and will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren Holliday, Troy, Michael, Hailey, Holden and Leo, whom she adored.
Pearl started her career as Head Cashier for A&P and worked at numerous groceries stores in Fort Erie while also cleaning homes and catering to make ends meet to raise her two children. Pearl was a resilient and independent woman, truly the kindest of women you could ever meet.
In her retirement, Pearl helped her son and daughter raise their girls by babysitting, allowing them to work, building an ever lasting bond with her granddaughters. Pearl enjoyed every minute spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Pearl’s family would like to thank Dr. Csanadi, Nurse Tammy and Dr. Scher for all of their exceptional care. Additional thanks to the Nursing staff at Port Colborne Hospital, her wonderful PSW’s Natasha, Amy and her wound care Nurses Louisa and Lepsi. You all came into her life and brightened each week. She adored each of you. Also, our family would like to acknowledge Pearl’s friends , Helen, Margueritte ,Donna and Kail for all their friendship and company, and to Mark, Linda, Monica, Dennis, Randy and the endless names of residents at 255 High St., for Pearl’s 40 year residency. All of your friendship and support was appreciated by Pearl and our entire family.
A private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers (allergies), Pearl has requested that donations are made to Fort Erie Lions Club or toward a charity of your choice.
