Obituary of Jacqueline Bowman

Jacqueline (JACKIE) Anne Bowman of Fort Erie, Ontario passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on July 24, 2025. Predeceased by her husband James Arthur Bowman (2012) who worked 35 years at the Canadian National Railway.  She was born Jacqueline Anne Martin on November 30, 1935 in Stratford Ontario to James Francis and Lucy (Cook) Martin. Her mother played piano for the silent movies at a local theatre and her father was a machinist at the CN Rail yards who died when Jackie was only 15. She had a younger sister, Diane Misener(predeceased), Chester Misener (Brother-in-law) and an infant brother, Robert, also predeceased her.  Jackie and her sister Diane, who stayed close through their entire lives, supported each other and their mother through some difficult life trials and tribulations.

Jackie was a devoted mother to her children Janice, husband Joe Morgante, James, wife Helga. She was the loving grandmother of Janice’s children, Anthony (Shannon), Adam (Ashley), Olivia and James’s child, Amanda and a great-grandmother of Lia, Jameson, Dawson, Danny, Landyn and Blair.

After graduating from Stratford Central, Jackie met James Bowman, they were married on Aug 23, 1958, moved from Stratford when James’s took a job transfer to the new CN diesel shop in Fort Erie.  She was a homemaker until her children were in high school.  She then worked as a receptionist for Irvin Aerospace on Central Ave until her retirement.   Jackie's infectious sense of fun and readiness to dance the night away were a perfect compliment to James's two left feet. They took dance lessons every Thursday night at the dance hall above Carroll’s Bowling Lanes for years and would be found on the dance floor cutting the rug at every opportunity.  Jackie enjoyed her days with dad at their Florida retreat during their retirement years.  She would always be seen with a glass of wine in her hand, and a smile on her face.

The family is deeply grateful for the kindness and support of our neighbours and friends, Doctor Scher and the dedicated staff at Maple Park lodge Nursing Home. Memorial donations in Jackie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Join the family to Celebrate her Life at The Fort Erie Legion Br. 71 on Friday Aug 1, 2025 between 11:00am and 2:00pm.
