Obituary of Edmond Allenby Abdella

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Edmond Abdella, lovingly known as Eddie or The Silver Fox, on July 9, 2025 at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie. Eddie recently celebrated his 82nd birthday surrounded by family and friends. Eddie was born on June 5, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from University at Buffalo and pursued a career in elementary education, teaching in Buffalo for 31 years. After teaching during the day, he could often be found bartending at night in various bars in Buffalo. Eddie was married to the love of his life and best friend Phyllis Passero, his “honey bun” for 29 beautiful years. An avid sports fan, Eddie passionately cheered for his beloved Buffalo Bills, Toronto Blue Jays and Buffalo Sabres. Eddie was a true food connoisseur, just as happy exploring restaurants as he was cooking at home. Eddie loved tending to his garden and could often be found on the balcony, enjoying a good book and the breeze. Every Tuesday, you could find him at the mall shopping to add to his expansive wardrobe and relaxing in the cinema watching a movie. He enjoyed his long walks along Niagara Boulevard with Phyllis, hand in hand. Eddie had a deep love for music, especially jazz, and was always ready to hit the dance floor. He was undeniably the life of the party and his zest for life was infectious. Eddie leaves behind his cherished wife Phyllis, his extended Passero and Abdella families, and close friends, all who loved him tremendously. He is predeceased by his parents Thelma and Edmond and step father Ralph. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations in his honour may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, and would be appreciated by his family. His absence will be felt deeply by all who were lucky enough to know him. His memory will continue to bring smiles, laughter and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well lived. Please raise a glass in his honour. Eddie, you will be missed beyond words.
