Obituary of Andrew Alan Haworth

Haworth, Andrew (Andy)

 

After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Andy passed away surrounded by the love and support of his family on Thursday, June 26, 2025.  Andy was predeceased by his father Lawrence, mother Sheila, sister Susan and brother-in-law Walt.  Andy will be missed by his brother Richard (Robin), and sisters Carol Lochhead, and Deb (Brian).  Uncle to Mike, Ian (Ashley), Trevor, Sandra, Scott, Sarah (Sam), Jess (Ghyslain), Matt and Simon.  Great Uncle to Sophie, Rae, Cole, Daxton and Wesley.  Cousin to Julia and Nicola and families. 

 

Andy moved with his family from England to Canada in 1966 at at the age of 7. He lived most of his life in Long Beach, Port Colborne and most recently Fort Erie.  He worked at the Fort Erie Race Track for many years and enjoyed reconnecting with many people around town when he moved to Fort Erie in the fall of 2022.   Andy loved his Timmy's coffee, spending time with family and his pets especially Sasha, Holly, Cozmo and Sammy. He was thankful to reconnect with Brian Leslie, a childhood friend, during his illness and the family is grateful for Brian's support to Andy throughout his lifetime.  

 

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the care and compassion Andy received over the last few years. Dr. Kodous and the team at Walker Family Cancer Centre who supported Andy throughout his cancer journey.  The care teams at NHS Welland and Niagara Falls sites, in particular Palliative Nurse Practitioner Nicole. The Ontario Health at Home care team including nurse Barbara, and Palliative Care Coordinators Cindy and Laurie.  To Deborah and Leigh at Hospice Niagara your kindness and support to both Andy and the family are deeply appreciated.  And lastly to Dr. Scher and the team at the Douglas Memorial Hospital for the outstanding care, compassion and dignity they gave to Andy in his last days.    

 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Benner Funeral Home Services, Fort Erie. In honour of Andy's memory, donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre, Hospice Niagara or Neurofibromatosis Ontario would be gratefully appreciated.
