Obituary of Patricia McLennan

McLennan : Patricia “nee Simpson”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Nan, Aunt and Friend, Patricia Anne McLennan.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, determination, and optimism.

Born November 22, 1947, in Fort Erie, Ontario, she lived her entire life (nearly 70 years in 3 houses on Dufferin Street alone) in the town she loved, surrounded by the people she loved.

She is reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband of over 55 years the late Richard.

She will be forever missed by daughter Michelle (Jim) Connaughton and son Scott (Colleen) McLennan.

Beloved Nan/Nanny to Taylor Connaughton, Connor Connaughton, Sophie McLennan, and Emellia McLennan.

Cherished Aunt to Jodi Simpson, Tami Banfield, Lori Andrews, Jennifer White and Jason McLennan.  She will be sadly missed by her brother-in-law Brian (Wendy) McLennan.

We will be forever grateful to Cathy Simpson and Carrie McLennan who provided love and support throughout the years.

Predeceased by her parents Elsie and George Simpson and her brother Jim whom she shared the closest bond, especially when he moved back to Fort Erie.

Pat was known for being kind and giving, for her infectious laugh, and strong spirit.  She truly touched the lives of everyone she met.  Early in her career, Pat worked at the Royal Bank, and she retired from TD Canada Trust with over 20 years’ service.  Pat loved going to work and especially enjoyed helping the younger generations of clients.  She was also a stay-at-home mom and did the books for Dave Lyons Chevrolet.

She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, the Douglas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Tuck Shop and Palliative Care Wing, the Family Council at Gilmore Lodge and teaching Sunday School.

Pat loved nature, especially cardinals and carnations, reading, puzzles, ceramic classes, bowling and camping or cottaging back in the day, sitting on her front porch, long drives along the Niagara River Parkway and a good cup of tea.

Special thanks to Dr. Csanadi, Dr. Scher and the excellent staff at Maple Park Lodge.

Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 22nd, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, visiting beginning at 11, funeral at noon followed by a reception.  If desired, donations in Pat’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Paul’s Anglican Church or the Maple Park Lodge would be appreciated.
