Valerie Giesbrecht Funk, 77, has passed away peacefully, cherishing her independence in the sanctuary of her home. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Bill and Agnes Peters, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth touched all who knew her.

Valerie was predeceased by her devoted husband of 46 years, David, and her eldest son, Dale. She is survived by her son, Darrin; granddaughter, Nicole (James); and great-grandchildren, Addison, Scarlett, and MJ.  

A woman of deep faith, Valerie has joined her beloved husband on the path of eternity. Her gardens, vibrant with blooms and birdsong, were a testament to her expertise and love for nurturing beauty. An exceptional cook, she welcomed friends and family with hearty meals and open arms, creating cherished memories around her table. Her caring and generosity knew no bounds.

A memorial service will be held at Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave, Fort Erie, ON, on Sunday April 27th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Diabetes Canada.

Valerie’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace.
