Obituary of Dorothy May Hanna

Dorothy May Hanna (nee) Chudley

A talented illustrator and force of nature, Dorothy May Hanna was born on October 20, 1930 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and passed away on March 14, 2025. Dorothy's childhood was divided in time living in both Niagara Falls and Fort Erie, Ontario.  Dorothy married Robert Hanna, of Fort Erie, who continues to reside there in his 95th year.  The couple have been married for 74 years.  Dorothy is survived by her sister Marion McIntosh (nee) Chudley and was predeceased by her brother Charlie Chudley and her sister Mildred Roberts (nee) Chudley.  Dorothy has surviving children Mark Hanna and his wife Anna, and Valerie Hanna.  Her first born son, Bobby Hanna predeceased her in 2019. Dorothy lived a colorful life working in Buffalo New York well past the age of 85, driving the Peace Bridge border and braving the elements to perform services in the legal department of a magazine publishing company.  She invoked a wilful spirit until the end. Viewings will be held at the Benner Funeral Home Monday March 17, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm.  The service will be held the following day, March 18, starting at 1pm at Benner Funeral Home with an internment at Greenwood cemetary. Post funeral gathering will be at the Fort Erie Legion. Now celebrate life!--it is fleeting, ephemeral and full of magic and wonder, if you look for it!
