Obituary of Robert Ernest Climenhaga

Robert Ernest Climenhaga Jan. 7, 1943 - Jan 27, 2025

Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by his children, after a brief illness, on Monday January 27th, at GNGH in Niagara Falls, at the age of 82.

Devoted husband to Elaine for over 56 years. Dad to Shawn (1999), Juanita (Craig Everett), and Shane Climenhaga. Loving Papa to Ben, Ella and Elijah Everett. Dear friend and mentor to many.

Born in Buffalo New York to Eleanor and Ernest Climenhaga, Bob lived in Kenmore NY until the age of 5 when they moved into his beloved home in Fort Erie. He spent all but 18 years of his life at that house. Those 18 years were spent with Elaine, where they made their home along the Niagara Blvd where he could see the mighty Niagara River. In 1989 Bob and Elaine bought his parents property and he moved home.

Bob worked for the Town of Fort Erie for over 30 years in the Road Department. He was still in contact with many friends he made there. In his spare time Bob loved to tinker in his shop, help friends build stock cars and impart his knowledge. He loved going out on his boat and fishing on the river. He spent time at Tim Horton’s in Stevensville and Fort Erie after he retired where he would meet and catch up  with friends. Bob had the gift of gab and made friends wherever he went. He was also involved with the Niagara Antique Power Association for several years.

The last 6 months he lived at Redstacks Retirement Home. He was very happy that he could still see the river if he went to the front sitting area. He would spend a few hours there just watching the river flow by.  We would like to give a huge Thank You to Chen and Maria and all the staff for their loving care and friendship. You truly made Dad’s transition as easy and comfortable as possible. Thank you for listening to all his stories and laughing along with him.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, son, siblings and in-laws.

Thank you to the Emergency Staff at GNGH along with his Palliative Care Team. You made Dad’s final days very comfortable for him.

Arrangements entrusted to Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie where family will receive friends on Saturday February 8th from 11 am until the time of a service in the chapel at 1 o'clock.
