Obituary of Myles Victor Coates
With great sadness we announce the passing of Myles Victor Coates, born July 25th, 1934.
Poppa Myles was the beloved father of Karen and Kelly, grandfather of Spencer, Conner, Kiefer, and Jackson, and father-in-law to Graham Young. He is also survived by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie, parents Mary and Stan, brother Gerald, and sister-in-law Hilda.
Myles was one of the original owners of the famous Plainsman Restaurant in Flamborough, the first smorgasbord restaurant in Ontario. He travelled the world with his family, always on the lookout for new recipes. In 1976 he became owner and head chef of Green Acres Family Restaurant in Fort Erie, where he “catered to hungry appetites for over 40 years.” He will be missed by Cheryl Matthews and Myrtle Jennings, as well as many loyal coworkers and dear friends.
