Obituary of Sue Paliska
Suzanne Paliska passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on August 24, 2021, at Gilmore Lodge in her 98th year. She is now reunited with her loving husband and dance partner of 64 years, John Paliska (2010).
Sue was born in Sirk, Czechoslovakia, and came to Canada when she was four years old. She was predeceased by her parents, Pauline and John Kvetko, her brother Julius, and two infant daughters. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) MacDonald and Nancy (Mike) Ryan.
A loving grandma of Lynette, Tim (Melissa), Becky, Patrick (Bettina), and Brendan (Carolyn); great “Gramma Sue” of Aaron (Kim), Megan (Dave), Nikolai, Clark, Tanner, and Walker; and great great (“G.G.”) grandmother of James, Brenna, and Olive.
Sue was a waitress and hostess at the Fort Erie Race Track for over 30 years. She was also a founding member of both Trinity Lutheran Church (a big part of the ELW) and Fort Erie Meals on Wheels, volunteering at each for many decades. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, playing cards, and trips to the casino. She was an excellent bowler and dancer, and well-known for her ponkushki. She and John travelled thousands of miles in their motorhome.
A sincere thanks to Dr. Kim Scher and the amazing staff of Gilmore Lodge for their exceptional care. Mom was treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Erie, or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #71, would be appreciated. Benner Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. A private service will be held for immediate family members, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.bennerfuneralservices.ca
