Obituary of John Joseph Ivan Zebec

With his loving daughters by his side on Wednesday December 18, 2019,  John passed away peacefully at the Douglas Memorial Hospital.  He was the fiercely loved father of Jennifer (John) Hirons and Tania Zebec. His grandchildren Vedder, Peyton and Hudson were his absolute pride and joy. He was the dearly loved brother of Mira (Michael) Lawson. Sadly missed by nephews, nieces and great nieces Tyler (LA) Mercer, Andrew Lawson, Mark Lawson, Hannah and Aria Mercer. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Carol and his parents Andrije and Luba. John was employed for 22 years with GNB Canada. He found his niche while working as a valet parking attendant at the OLG Slots in Fort Erie, retiring after 10 years having made many friends with his unique sense of humour. He was well known for his love of animals, in particular pigeons, rabbits, dogs and a duck named George. John was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins. His heart was with the Croatian National Soccer team and speaking was forbidden anytime a match was being played. John will be missed by his many friends, especially those who have become family. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 22 from 5pm-8pm. The funeral will be Monday December 23 at 11 am in the chapel.
